Week of Caring 2025 (4)

During Week of Caring, we invite you to participate in four volunteer activities themed around United Way's impact areas! Come on your own or bring a friend, co-worker, or family member and help us make meaningful change in our community!

Monday, 9/29: 9 AM - 12 PM Join us and at Columbus House's Harkness House for Veterans. This program provides housing and support for homeless male Veterans, connecting them to services, expanding their social and employment skills, and encouraging reconnection to their communities. Sign-up and help to repaint the buildings hallways and stairwell!
Tuesday, 9/30: 10 AM - 12 PM Join us as we partner with Gather New Haven to get our hands dirty and help maintain a community garden in New Haven! Sites are rotated based on need and not determined until a few days before your event date. Because of this, you will not receive the final logistics (address, parking information, etc.) until 2-3 days before the event. Volunteers will be asked to do the following: Harvest a variety of fruits and vegetables Clear and pull weeds Spread mulch Be on their feet for t
Wednesday, 10/1: 11:30 AM - 1 PM Join us and support families across the start by collecting new diapers! By hosting a Diaper Drive, your coworkers, friends, and family members can come together to collect helping to alleviate the financial burden on families in our community. Why should you participate? 1 in 3 CT families struggle to afford diapers. Many parents have no access to childcare because most programs require parents to provide diapers. Friday, 10/3: 9:30 AM - 11 AM Read to students at Washington School in West Haven! Volunteer readers are needed from 9:30 AM - 11 AM. You do not need to bring any materials with you, we will be providing everything you'll need!
